Privacy Policy

How we handle personal data on this website, in our contact form and in the LANCE plugin. Last updated June 2026.

In shortThe LANCE plugin is offline-first and on-device. It does not send your tactical data, positions, messages or exact location to TAKHUB — only anonymous crash and error diagnostics may be collected to fix bugs and improve the app. This website is privacy-friendly: no advertising trackers, and the contact form is used only to answer your request.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:

TAKHUB GmbH
Dierath 66, 51399 Burscheid, Germany
Email: [email protected] · Phone: +49 (0) 152 078 711 30

See our Imprint for full legal details.

2. Visiting this website

When you open this website, your browser necessarily transmits technical data so the pages can be delivered to you. Depending on the hosting setup, the server may process so-called server log files, which can include:

  • your abbreviated/anonymised IP address,
  • date and time of the request,
  • the page or file requested,
  • the referring URL, browser type and operating system.

This processing is based on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log data is not merged with other data sources and is retained only as long as necessary for security and operation.

3. Cookies & tracking

This LANCE product website is built to work without advertising or analytics cookies. Any strictly necessary storage your browser uses (for example to remember UI preferences) serves only to deliver the service you requested and does not profile you. We do not use cross-site advertising trackers on this site.

4. Contact & Enterprise enquiry form

If you contact us by email or submit the Enterprise contact form, we process the data you provide in order to handle your request. The form fields are:

DataPurpose
Name, organisation, emailIdentify you and reply to your enquiry
Phone (optional), countryContact you and route the enquiry
Use case, planned users/devices, messageUnderstand and scope your request

Legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual measures and our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We use these details only to respond to your enquiry and do not use them for advertising. Data is deleted once your request is resolved and no statutory retention obligations apply.

The same applies to the optional feature request form on our roadmap page, where we process the email address you provide (required), an optional name, and the idea and topic area you submit — solely to record the request and, if you tick the consent box, to follow up with you about it. Legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the product and, for any follow-up, your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and (f) GDPR).

To receive these submissions we use Web3Forms, a third-party form-delivery service that acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR: it receives the data you enter into the form and forwards it to our email inbox on our behalf, and does not use it for its own purposes. As this may involve processing on servers outside the EU/EEA, the transfer is safeguarded by appropriate measures such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Details are set out in Web3Forms' privacy policy at web3forms.com/privacy.

5. The LANCE plugin (app)

LANCE is an ATAK plugin that operates offline-first and on-device. Its purpose is to carry your tactical data over a local LoRa mesh between your own radios — not to send it to us.

  • Tactical data stays private. Your positions, markers, shapes, messages, radio configuration and exact location are never transmitted to TAKHUB.
  • Mesh data stays in your network. What you share goes only to the mesh participants you operate with.
  • Anonymous diagnostics & crash reports. To find and fix bugs, the app may send anonymised crash reports and technical error diagnostics — for example the app version, device model, Android version and anonymised error or stack traces — so we can see when a particular device repeatedly hits the same fault and fix it effectively.
  • No secrets, no personal data. Crash and diagnostic data deliberately exclude secrets such as encryption keys and the content of your messages; at most a non-secret length and checksum may be recorded, and the data carries no exact location or personally identifiable information.
  • You can switch it off. Diagnostics are on by default, but you can fully disable all telemetry at any time with a single switch in the app settings — for maximum privacy.
  • On-device permissions. Android Bluetooth and Location permissions are used solely to discover and connect to your radio over BLE; location is not collected by us.

We process anonymised diagnostic and crash data on the basis of our legitimate interest in the stability, security and continuous improvement of LANCE (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is collected in anonymised form and is not used to identify you; insofar as any of it were ever considered personal data, you may object at any time under Art. 21 GDPR.

6. App distribution & entitlements

The Free and Pro editions are distributed through the Google Play Store. When you download or purchase via Google Play, Google processes the transaction and related data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. Enterprise is distributed separately under a licensing agreement. We receive only the information needed to validate an entitlement or fulfil a licence; we do not receive your Google account password or full payment details.

7. Hosting & processors

This website and our email are operated with the help of service providers (e.g. hosting and email providers) acting as processors under Art. 28 GDPR. These providers process data only on our instructions and to the extent necessary to deliver their service. Where a provider is located outside the EU/EEA, transfers are safeguarded by appropriate measures such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15),
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16),
  • erasure (Art. 17) and restriction of processing (Art. 18),
  • data portability (Art. 20),
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21),
  • withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future.

To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the data-protection authority of your federal state (Land).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. The current version always applies and is published on this page.
